Read Japan Project  

TIMSR inaugurated The ‘Read Japan Project’ Bookshelf, donated by Nippon Foundation, Japan on 20th October, 2021. The inaugural ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, faculty members and students of the TIMSR & TGBS. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Masahide Sato, Chief Consulate- General of Japan and the Guest of Honor was Mr. Tauchi Noritaka, Consulate- General of Japan. The objective of the event was to promote the readership of Japanese Literature, through the Japanese books donated by Nippon Foundation. Dr. Pankaj Natu, Director, TIMSR welcomed the eminent guests and addressed the gathering on various economic, socio-political and cultural affiliations between India and Japan. He also expressed that the donation of books would help to strengthen the relationship between the Consulate and TIMSR and expressed his gratitude to JSS for selecting TIMSR. The Chief Guest Mr. Masahide Sato and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Tauchi Noritaka enlightened the students on economic development, cultural exchange, and various job opportunities emerging in Japan. They expressed their hope that the books donated by the Japan Science Society would help the TIMSR and TGBS students to deepen their interest in Japanese culture and they would lead to mutual understanding and friendship between India and Japan. Furthermore, they also briefed the students about various scholarships and fellowships programs offered by the Japanese Government to pursue higher education and Research. In the end, Dr. Shuchi Gautam, Professor, TIMSR proposed a vote of thanks to all including the invited guests and participants for gracing the occasion with their solemn presence.
