Samvedna
Feel it… Heal it.
In today’s scenario ‘sustainability’ as a word
has assumed great significance in every aspect whether it is
organizational growth or use of resources. In such times
organizations can achieve success only when all sections of
society are taken together to bring about an inclusive
growth.
We say we want change and improvement in the
system but our actions do not match our words. We should know
how to walk the talk.
We, at TIMSR, have tried to take a step forward
in this direction by initiating a social responsibility cell
“Samvedna” Feel it… Heal it with a motive to find an answer to
the numerous problems existing in the society today. The name
‘Samvedna’ itself manifests that our institution would always
remain proactive on social issues.
The cell was inaugurated by Mr. Vinay Shetty,
Vice President of Think Foundation on 26th Oct
2009. Various initiatives undertaken are :
- Blood donation camp and minor Thalassemia check-up
supported by Think Foundation
- Brain Stroke Awareness Programme supported by
Lupin Ltd.
- Conducting socio- economic surveys
- Understanding the social responsibility
initiatives undertaken by companies
- Conducting training sessions for the support
staff
- Conducting sessions, especially for women, on
health and hygiene and employment opportunities
- Conducting sessions on financial planning for men
belonging to lower income groups
- Teaching under-privileged children
Know Your Life: 10th February
2010
Sessions titled ‘Know your Life’ were conducted in
Thakur Shyamnarayan School for Tenth Standard Students of
Hindi & Marathi medium free of charge. These sessions
helped the students in developing positive attitude towards
studies and managing stress during Board exams. Two sessions
were conducted for 100 students.
The Newspaper Bags
Initiative : 6th to
8th February 2010.
Under this activity, peons of TIMSR were trained to
make paper bags out of newspaper waste generated in our
institution. These bags were given as samples to shopkeepers
in the nearby area and the response was overwhelming in terms
of the orders generated. This activity will be undertaken on
an ongoing basis depending on the future orders we get. This
activity has kindled a spark of entrepreneurship amongst our
peons besides providing them an avenue for additional
incomes. |
