Samvedna 2022 - 2023

Spoken English Program in Collaboration with Kotak Education

    Kotak Education Foundation in association with TIMSR conducted a three-month "Telephonic Spoken English Program (TSEP)", where the native speakers are taught and trained on the art of English Speaking & Conversation Skills through TSEP which gives them confidence while communicating and facing job interviews. The program’s aim was to provide participants with an immersive and interactive experience to enhance their English language skills and foster cross-cultural communication. The event focused on various aspects, including communication, vocabulary building, listening skills, and intercultural competence. Twenty-Six students of TIMSR participated in this three-month program and received a certificate for helping native speakers in overcoming language barriers and build rapport in professional settings. Participants actively engaged in the activities, and demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Mithi River Cleaning Drive

    The Robin Hood Army NGO organized a 'Mithi River' cleaning drive on 1st April 2023. During the event, 10 volunteers of the SRC cell of Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research from MMS Sem-I (Batch 2022-24) participated to clean up the river. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of keeping our rivers clean and protecting marine life. The event raised an awareness about the importance of keeping our oceans and rivers clean. Overall, the event was a success, with the volunteers feeling a sense of accomplishment for their efforts.

A Drive on E-Waste Recycling

    TIMSR SRC (Social Responsibility Cell) organized a drive on E-Waste Recycling in collaboration with Book My Junk, conducted on 29th March 2023.

    There was participation from Students. An E-Waste collection box was kept in which all the participants put the E-Waste which they had brought. The total number of participants were 12. The box containing E-Waste was collected by the Foundation and they thankful to our institute for initiating such an activity which has now become a necessity for saving the environment.

    Overall the event was successful.

    Poster Making Competition

      TIMSR’s SRC-Samvedna cell organized a Poster Making Competition on the occasion of ‘World Water Day’ for the students of MMS, Semester- II (Batch 2022-2024) on 27th March 2023. The theme of the competition was “Protect our Oceans". During the activity, the students expressed their views on the said topic through art and creativity in the form of Posters. A total of 14 participants participated in the competition, after which three prize winners were announced. The students contributed enthusiastically in the competition and honed their creative skills.

      A Drive on E-Waste Management

        TIMSR’s SRC (Social Responsibility Cell) organized a drive on E-Waste Management in collaboration with “Praanvaayu Awareness Foundation” and conducted on 17th December 2022. There was participation from all around i.e., Students, Faculty and other staff members. An E-Waste collection box was kept in which all the participants put their E-Waste which they had brought. The total number of participants was 30 and the number of items collected was more than 65 in numbers, which ranged from laptops to power banks to headphones and so on.

        The box containing E-Waste was collected by the Foundation and they expressed their thankful to TIMSR for initiating such activity which has now become necessity to save the environment. Overall, the event was highly successful with participation all around.

        Free Eye Checkup in collaboration with Specs Bazaar

          SRC-Samvedna cell of Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research organized a "Free eye check-up camp" in collaboration with Specs Bazaar for the MMS Batch (2021-23) and (2022-24) students, teaching and non-teaching staff on 26th November 2022. A total of 52 attended the event.

          The objective was to create awareness about the protection and importance of eyes. “Eye is the jewel of the body”. It is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light,” this was the message spread across during the camp.

          International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women at Workplace

            TIMSR’s Women Development Cell in Collaboration with SRC (Social Responsibility Cell) organized an event on the topic, “International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women at Workplace” on 25th November 2022.

            The motive of the event was to create awareness amongst students about the various issues faced by the women of society and to make them understand what steps as educated citizens or as responsible citizens they can or should take to combat such ill practices prevalent in Society.

            As the theme of the current year was “UNITE! Activism to end Violence against Women & Girls”, students were informed about how Society can contribute to the overall upliftment of various sections. Overall, the session was highly encouraging and inculcated an awareness to eliminate the violence against Women at Workplace.

            Mock Interview Sessions in collaboration with Kotak Education Foundation

              TIMSR’s SRC Samvedna Cell participated in “Unnati”, an initiative organized by Kotak Education Foundation. The event was conducted from 10th October to 22nd November 2022. A total of 8 SRC Samvedna Cell members from the MMS batch (2021-23) volunteered by mentoring Unnati aspirants at Goregaon and Virar centers to assess their English proficiency level by conducting assessment tests offline and online. During the program, the students completed the following activities.

              1. Conducted Mock PI's for hospitality students of Goregoan and Virar centers.
              2. Conducted Mock PI's for BFSI students of Goregoan and Virar centers.
              3. Conducted English pre-test for BFSI students of Goregoan center.
              4. Conducted enrolment for graduate and undergraduate students.

              Ms. Richal Tuscano and Dr. Sonal Sharma, two faculty members, conducted motivational sessions and sessions on the retail industry for the Virar center to enrich the professional skills of the students in their particular domain.

              Through the program, TIMSR's SRC Samvedna Cell members gained valuable experience working with an NGO, supporting them in CSR initiatives, and developing empathy and social responsibility.

              Tree Plantation activity in collaboration with NSS of TCET College

                SRC -Samvedna cell of Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research conducted a “Tree Plantation Activity” on 28th August, 2022 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Dream Park, in collaboration with the NSS unit of Thakur College of Engineering and Technology.

                The objective of this event was to teach students to take corrective measures to save climate from pollution. This was a great initiative to keep our atmosphere neat and clean. The tree plantation program aimed to plant about 150 saplings at Dream Park. The forestry coordinator from the NSS unit guided students on how to sow seeds and plants.

                A total of nine volunteers (MMS semester II – Batch 2021-2023) participated in the event. All participants were highly enthusiastic during the activity to make a big difference with their little efforts.

                An awareness session on Menstrual Health & Hygiene Management

                  SRC-Samvedna cell of Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research organized "An awareness session on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management" for the female-students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and sister concern institutes on 27th August 2022, in collaboration with Whisper from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Study Skill Centre (SSC) of TIMSR. A total of 79 female members attended the session.

                  Through the session, the Whisper team discussed the importance of Menstrual Health and the role of Hygiene Management in improving global population health. During the discussion, guidance was imparted on how to access safe and affordable sanitary materials to minimize menstruation risk. Overall, the session was very enriching in terms of disseminating the importance of health and hygiene to the audience.

                Janjatiya Gaurav Divas

                  TIMSR’S SRC-Samvedna Cell celebrated a “Janjatiya Gaurav Divas”, as declared by the Government of India on the birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda. The event was organized for the students of MMS Batch (2021-23) on 15th November 2022 to remember the sacrifices of tribal freedom fighters. During the event, a presentation was made to remember the contributions made by the Birsa Munda that acclaimed him as an iconic freedom fighter, social reformer and a well-regarded tribal leader of the country, who fought bravely against the exploitative system of the British colonial government. A total of 56 students attended the event.

                  Photo Collage competition

                    SRC-Samvedna cell of Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research organized a Photo Collage competition on the occasion of 75th Independence Day for the students of MMS, Semester- II (Batch 2021-2023) on 13th August 2022. The themes of the competition were “Nation first, always first” and "Role of women in India's Independence". During the activity, the students expressed their views through art and creativity. A total of 07 participants participated in the competition, from which 03 winners were announced. Overall, the competition inculcated a spirit of patriotism and teamwork among the students.

                  Skit Performance on Women Empowerment

                    SRC-Samvedna cell of Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research organized a Skit performance on the occasion of 75th Independence Day for the students of MMS, Semester- II (Batch 2021-2023) on 13th Aug 2022. The theme of the Skit performance was “Women Empowerment". Through the activity, the students expressed their views by portraying feelings, emotions, and an entire story on women empowerment through their acting skills The purpose of the skit was to make students more sensitive to the issue of Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.

                  Blood Donation Camp

                    A Blood Donation Camp was organized by TIMSR’s SRC cell in collaboration with Thakur College of Science & Commerce (TCSC) College on the 18th & 19th of July 2022. A total of 26 students (MMS semester II – Batch 2021-2023) volunteered for the campaign as organizers and addressed the students and staff to bring awareness about the shortage of blood and the importance of donating blood. As a result of the awareness, a total of 18 students donated their blood during the camp. All the participants were highly enthusiastic during the activity and seemed so eager to make a big difference with their little efforts.
